Biography
Sr. Puig is an American surrealist photographer based in Los Angeles. For more than a decade he has staged images that displace the everyday to make visible what we hide: fear, dependency, consumption, ageing and the masks we wear. He works between digital staging and analog film, and draws on the classical painters and on Spanish culture, from Cervantes' Don Quijote to flamenco.
His work moves in eras rather than one fixed style. Epoca Nera, his early period, confronted the dark side through night, makeup and fire. In March 2020, as the world went into lockdown, he began The Quarantine Collection: over six weeks he photographed more than 160 people around the world inside their own homes, directing each image remotely through the sitter's phone, and hosted virtual photo meets for more than 400 photographers. Epoca Lucida followed, a period of clear, single-idea images in daylight and flat colour. In October 2026 he opened a new era: quieter, more poetic, more melancholic.
